On Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. a celebration of new ministry and the seating of The Rt. Rev. Susan Bell, 12th Bishop of the Diocese on Niagara took place at Christ's Church Cathedral. We were honoured to have one of our own parishioners, Mr. Ian Pratt, take part in the service. He is shown here presenting the Crozier to Bishop Susan on behalf of the people and clergy of the diocese of Niagara.
The rite by which a bishop formally takes office as diocesan, called at various times an "installation" or "enthronement", has as its focus the seating of the bishop in the "stall" or "throne", the seat specifically designated for the bishop in the cathedral. This, in fact, gives the cathedral its name (kathedra, from the Greek, meaning "seat") and also its distinctive purpose, being the place of the bishop's seat.
On October 15th members of our parish family attended the Bishop's Company Dinner. We enjoyed a great meal and each others company. Bishop Susan Bell was the speaker. It was wonderful to hear her perspective on how we move forward as a diocese and reach the unchurched and dechurched.
Please join us every Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. for our midweek service. Our Honorary Assistant, The Rev. Don Coombe, is our celebrant accompanied by servers Norm Lampman and Howard Price. Mary Jane Price is the organist. It is lovely Eucharistic service including the anointing with oil for healing. The service is followed by a time of fellowship in the parish hall. As the photo shows, even as we renovate the after service fellowship continues.
