The Seating of the Rt. Rev. Susan Bell 12th Bishop of Niagara

The rite by which a bishop formally takes office as diocesan, called at various times an "installation" or "enthronement", has as its focus the seating of the bishop in the "stall" or "throne", the seat specifically designated for the bishop in the cathedral. This, in fact, gives the cathedral its name (kathedra, from the Greek, meaning "seat") and also its distinctive purpose, being the place of the bishop's seat.
